Nalin Sood

NHSBCA Secretary (Washington)

Nalin is the retired former coach at his alma mater, Mountlake Terrace High School after 37-years coaching basketball, the last 24 as head coach. At the time of his retirement, Nalin was only the 3rd head coach in the 64-year history of the school. Excluding the COVID season, Nalin’s teams participated in the post season 18 times, made the state tournament 15 teams, and brought home three state tournament trophies with four Final 8 finishes. Nalin earned his B.A. in Business Technology from Central Washington and his Master’s Degree from Grand Canyon University and has been teaching Business Technology at MTHS since 1996. Leadership-wise, Nalin has been the President/Executive Director of the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association for the past 15 years, President of the Edmonds School District Coaches Association for the past 17 years and is past-president of the Washington State Coaches Association. Nalin is also the past-president of the National High School Basketball Coaches Association and current executive board member. Nalin was inducted into the NHSBCA Court of Honor in 2017. In the summer of 2018, Nalin was honored with his induction into the state boys’ basketball coaches (WIBCA) Hall of Fame. Nalin is married to Kara and has two children, son-Robbie and daughter-Sheridan.
