NHSBCA Executive Board Member (Arizona)

Matt King is the Executive Director of the Arizona Basketball Coaches Association. Matt revived the ABCA two years ago and has seen an organization that had dissolved grow into a membership of over 950 coaches in the state of Arizona. Matt also served as a high school coach for 13 years with stints at O’Connor High School where he developed a program that had 5 coaches in the previous 6 years before he got there into a program that was in the top 10 in class 6A when he transitioned out. Coach King was also the head coach at Clovis HS (Clovis, NM) for three years and lead the program to a 5-A state final and 5-A state semi-final berth. Matt has also worked extensively within USA Basketball for the past 10 years with both their Jr National Team and now the Youth Development Division. Matt has served as a Lead Clinician, Coach Academy speaker, and now currently serves as a Regional Coordinator. Matt helped with the Youth Guidelines which is joint venture between USA Basketball and the Jr. NBA to provide standards for youth basketball in the United States. Matt is a graduate of the University of New Mexico where he walked on to the basketball program under Head Coach Fran Fraschilla. Matt is currently an Ad Hoc member of the NHSBCA (National High School Basketball Coaches Association). (coachking32@gmail.com)
