Johnnie B. “Hawk” Carter has served as the Assistant Director for the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches for the past seven years. Prior to coming to TABC, he was the Director of Athletic Services for the Aldine ISD, in Houston, Texas for seven years. The previous 26 years he was a successful head basketball coach winning over 500 games including numerous state play-off appearances and four Regional Tournaments. He was selected to coach both the TABC All- Game and The Texas HS Coaches Association All-Star Game. Carter has been inducted into the Texas HS Basketball Hall of Fame, the East Texas Baptist University Athletics Hall of Fame, and the Carthage High School (TX) Hall of Honor. He is a Lifetime member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and a career long member of the Texas HS Coaches Association. Coach Carter was named a "A Coach Who Makes a Difference", in 2002, by High Sports X-TRA, for performing CPR and reviving one of his players during a practice session. He and his wife, Carmen, have four children and three grandchildren.
