Pat Fitterer is currently Past President of WIBCA, Washington State Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association. Pat is in his 40th year of membership and a board member for 34 years. Also, a 34 year board member of the Washington State Coaches Association, a commissioner with AAU, past People to People director and was honored to coach USA Basketball. Pat is in his forty third year of teaching but retired his coaching duties 5 years ago after 37 years as a head high school coach. Pat was recognized as state coach of the year 4 times, won 728 games, qualified to play in 23 state tournaments, earning 15 state trophies with two state championships. With USA basketball he coached a USA Youth Development Festival Tournament team, winning the gold medal. He was an assistant coach with a gold medal team in the Nike Hoop Summit game and head coach the next year of the gold medal team. In 1998, Central Washington University inducted Pat into their Hall of Fame. In 2005, he was honored with the National Federation High School National Distinguished Coach Contributor. In 2007, he was inducted into the Washington State Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. Pat keeps active by coaching his grandchildren, running summer camps and helping with the WIBCA Coaches Clinic. Pat feels very fortunate that his family loved being part of the basketball world as much as he did. Pat is honored to receive this award and is excited to share it with his players, coaches and fans.
