Jeni Hopkins, a former basketball coach with 24 years of experience in Missouri, now works as a color analyst, play-by-play announcer, and hosts A Coach’s Perspective on ESPN affiliate KBFL. Her show is also available as a podcast across multiple platforms. Hopkins began coaching at Greenwood Laboratory School, achieving an 82% winning percentage, three district titles, and a state runner-up finish in six years. She then spent 16 years at Hillcrest High School, leading teams to multiple district and tournament championships and a Final Four appearance. She retired with 332 career victories and coached 20 college scholarship athletes in 22 years as a head coach. Her accolades include multiple Coach of the Year honors, the John Wooden Legacy Award, and the 2018 Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Filbert Five Award as one of the top contributors to the sport of basketball in the state. Hopkins serves as Past-President and Media Coordinator for the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association and sits on the National High School Basketball Coaches Association Mental Coaching Committee. In the community, Hopkins directs Court Talk, a bi-monthly luncheon promoting women’s basketball, leads the C.H.A.M.P.S. mentoring program, counsels college athletes, teaches at Missouri State and Drury Universities, and is a full time school administrator. With a master’s in counseling and a PhD in Performance Psychology, she travels and presents on perfectionism, performance anxiety management, sport parenting, and team building. Hopkins lives on a farm in Bolivar, Missouri with her husband Scott. They have two children: Hailey Jo, a University of Arkansas graduate, and Hayden, a Missouri State University graduate.
