Don Showalter is recognized as one of the greats of Iowa high school basketball and USA Basketball. Coach Showalter coached 42 years in Iowa while leading his teams to 6 state tournaments. His 2007 Mid-Prairie team finished State Runner-up. During his illustrious career, Coach Showalter was named “Iowa Coach of the Year” on 10 different occasions. He was inducted in the Iowa High School Hall of Fame in 2016.

Coach Showalter’s resume with USA Basketball is equally as impressive. He is a 10 time USA Basketball (U16 & U17) Gold Medal winning coach as well as 10 times USA Basketball Developmental Coach of the Year. His U16 & U17 teams have an international record of 62-0.

Coach Showalter has also had the honor of coaching in the McDonald’s All-American game (1999) and well as coach of the Jordan Brand game on two occasions (2005, 2012). He also served on the McDonald’s All-American selection committee. Through his experiences with USA Basketball and the McDonald’s game, Coach Showalter has worked with 28 players that have played in the NBA.

Coach Showalter’s success on the international stage has led him to being a leading international clinic speaker. Not only has he spoken at clinics across the country, he has spoken at clinics in Europe, Australia and Asia.

Coach Showalter has been married to his wife, Vicky of 46 years. He has 2 adult children, Melissa and Brent.
