Coach Chase’s involvement in the NHBCO (NH Basketball Coaches Organization) began in 2000 and he has served as President since 2016. After attending his first NHSBCA national conference in Las Vegas in 2015, he was inspired by the collaboration and opportunity to build relationships among state coaching leaders and has made it his mission to revive a stagnant NHBCO. Helping bring new life to the NHBCO, David secured sponsorships with several major businesses to help financially improve the coaches’ organization. Additionally, state membership and attendance at the NHBCO-sponsored state coaching clinics have both increased tremendously. David also organizes and has revamped the NH Senior All-Star games. The games now feature the top 12 boys and girls from each of the states 4 divisions in what is now known and the NHBCO Blue Grey games.

David earned his Bachelors of Science degree from Lyndon State College in 1985 and his Master’s Degree in Educational Instruction from New England College.  He just finished his twenty-seventh year of teaching physical education, adventure education and coaching at Hopkinton High School located in New Hampshire.  Prior to teaching in Hopkinton, he also served as Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, physical education teacher and coach in Massachusetts, Vermont and Utah.   Currently, he is coaching varsity basketball at NH’s largest school, Pinkerton Academy, in Derry, New Hampshire. He has an overall record of 526 wins and 218 losses while winning 4 state basketball championships.  Last spring, he retired from coaching varsity baseball after 36 years with a record of 488 wins and 190 losses and winning 3 state titles.  He also presently coaches varsity boys golf and led the team to its only state championship in school history.

A seven-time “NH Coach of the Year”, David also received the Walter A. Smith award for lifetime achievement in coaching from the NH Union Leader in 2022 and the NH Interscholastic Athletic Association’s award for 25 years of coaching athletics in New Hampshire. David believes in building the future of NH basketball through his skill development summer camps and work with youth organizations.

David lives in Contoocook, New Hampshire with his wife Amanda and their rescue dog, Cora. He enjoys traveling, golf, and spending time with their grown children, Callie and Sam.
