Gene Milner coached at Clinton Central, Lafayette Harrison, and Rensselaer Central. A severe car accident brought his coaching career to a premature end, but the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) soon offered him the opportunity to stay connected to the game of basketball.  Gene has published the Indiana High School Basketball Record Book since 1983 (40 years). The Record Book is 160 Pages and has over a thousand pictures. The Record Book is actually a YEARBOOK that chronicles the statewide season. He has also held the positions of job placement director for the IBCA, operates State Statistical Office (IBCA), editor of Showcase Underclass Books for girls and boys, IBCA website coordinator, edits/compiles IBCA Team Showcase Book. He also received the Virgil Sweet Distinguished Service Award from the IBCA in 2006.

Gene married Carolyn “Carrie” (Blue) in 1965. Dr. Carrie Milner has served as superintendent at several districts. He has two grown children. Son, Chris and family live in the New York area. Daughter Laura and husband Chris Elsbrock live on the family farm and operate Milbrock Farms. Both Laura and Chris are hard working educators in Greencastle. They have one son Zach, who is married to Danielle, and they live in North Carolina.
